PRECARE & AFTERCARE
(SALINE TATTOO REMOVAL)

PRECARE

It is very important to follow the precare instructions. Each guideline is in place to ensure the best results possible. If the precare instructions are ignored, the appointment may be declined due to the skin possibly not being in the right condition to tattoo.

  • No alcohol or caffeine on the day of the procedure.

  • No Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, Fish Oil, IBUprofen, Coumadin 3 days prior to the appointment. (Tylenol is acceptable)

  • No waxing or tinting 1 week before the procedure.

  • No botox 2 weeks prior to the appointment.

  • Do not use any skin products that contain glycolic acid, salicylic acid, AHAs, or any chemical peels for 3 weeks.

  • Retinol/retinoid users must stop usage for 3 weeks minimum.

  • Clients using hair growth serums (Latisse, Grande Lash, etc.) on the brows must stop usage 3 weeks before the procedure.

  • Consult with a Doctor before discontinuing any medication.

  • Please make sure the skin is not sunburned in the slightest.

Please note:

  • Those with Diabetes, Chemotherapy patients, Thyroid disorder patients, those with High Blood Pressure, or any autoimmune diseases MUST provide a mandatory Doctor’s note on the day of the saline tattoo removal procedure.

THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT

  • Showering the morning of the procedure is suggested as it is not recommended to wash the full face in the shower for 5-10 days. (This will be further explained in more detail on the day of the appointment.)

  • Eat a substantial meal before the appointment.

  • Bring in any inspiration photos to be referenced during the appointment.

  • If necessary, bring headphones to cancel out any noise to make the procedure as relaxing as possible.

  • Please do not bring any guests to the appointment.

AFTERCARE

For the best healed results possible, it is very important to follow the aftercare instructions until the area is completely healed.

THINGS TO AVOID:

  • Do not pick or scratch the treated area. Picking at the area may cause scarring, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, or infection.

  • Avoid anything that may cause the area to get “soggy”. The area must remain as dry as possible. (sweat, steamy showers, swimming, saunas)  TIP:  Use the provided shower shields to help keep the area dry in the shower.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning.

  • No facials, Botox, chemical treatments, chemical exfoliants, retinoids, or retinol until completely healed.

  • Avoid side sleeping, sleeping face down or covering the area in any way.  TIP:  Sleep with an airplane neck pillow on to help keep the neck supported throughout the night. Try your best to sleep on your back.

  • No makeup or skincare on the area until fully healed.  TIP:  Makeup or skincare on the rest of the face is fine, just be careful when applying/removing. It is best to leave a 1 inch clearance around the area just in case.

  • If you have pets at home, be sure to change all pillow cases every 2-3 nights during the healing process. If you don’t have animals, change all pillow cases once as soon as you get home.

AFTERCARE ROUTINE:

  • Every 3 hours for the next 7 days (or until completely healed), apply Li-FT Home Care Wash (1) to the area using a cotton swab and gently pressing onto the area. Do NOT double dip into the bottle with cotton swab. The amount of solution provided will last for multiple treatments.

ONCE YOU ARE HEALED:

(YOU WILL KNOW YOU ARE COMPLETELY HEALED WHEN ALL SCABS HAVE FALLEN OFF)

  • It is very normal to see some slightly warm tones in the healed area immediately after the scabbing has fallen off.

  • Once all scabbing as fallen off, apply Li-FT Heal Care Oil morning and night (as often as possible for best results) for 30 days after the procedure.

  • Stay out of the sun for 30 days after the procedure.

  • Avoid retinols or heavy exfoliants for 30 days after the procedure.

  • No botox or injectables for 30 days after the procedure.

  • Apply sunscreen in the area daily.

KEEP IN MIND:

  • It is important for the integrity of the skin that a minimum of 8 weeks of healing take place before another lightening session can take place.

  • Lightening unwanted pigment can be a long process and patience is required. This is true whether you are choosing a saline lightening product, laser, or any other removal procedure. Visible results can generally take 2 to 6 sessions. How many sessions needed will depend on how saturated the pigment is, how deep it was implanted by the previous artist, the location, skin type, potential scarring from previous procedures, and how much needs to be lightened for the desired result. However, the outcome of the procedure cannot be guaranteed as all skin types differ and heal differently.

  • Signs of infection: Immense swelling, tenderness or pain, redness around the skin, greenish/brown discharge, skin may feel hot around the area. If there are any concerns or symptoms with regards to the procedure site or worry of an infection, immediately call a physician.

  • If physician care is required related to the Body Art procedure(s), the client is to notify the Body Art practitioner of the problem and the resolution by a physician or clinic. This information shall be placed in the client’s file.
